Our High School Volunteers are at the heart of the Water Festival’s success.

We invite grade 11 or 12 classes to participate (20 to 25 students) for the day in this wonderful experiential opportunity.   Classes such as Leadership and/or Environmental Science make for an ideal match.

There is no cost to your school or your students.  Busing to and from the Water Festival is provided free of charge.  The Festival also covers the cost of supply teachers who may be required to provide coverage for high school teacher(s) who attend the Festival with their students.

Working in pairs, the high school students present a hands-on, 15-minute water-related activity to one group of school children at a time, over the course of the day.  All activities have elementary grade specific curriculum links.

High school volunteers gain experience in teaching, public speaking, community outreach, and time management. They also receive a Certificate of Appreciation, a free Water Festival t-shirt and pizza lunch.

If you are a teacher interested in bringing one or more classes for a day, please contact the Halton Children's Water Festival Coordinator at
